Who We Are

As members of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, we want you to be confident knowing that we are a group of highly trained and skilled medical specialists. An Ophthalmologist is a medical doctor and a key component of your health care team. Ophthalmologists typically complete 3-4 years of undergraduate University, followed by 4 years in medical school, and an additional 5 years in specialty training (at least 12-years of education). In addition, many Ophthalmologists spend an additional 1-2 years of training as a fellow to "sub-specialize" in an area such as pediatrics, glaucoma, cancer, or retina.

As we respond to the ongoing outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, ophthalmologist members of EPSAA and the volunteer directors of its Board are bringing their experience and training to bear by compiling and distributing advice to ALL ophthalmologists as to how to adjust their operations to comply with the directives of the public health authorities of Alberta.
